Classical Amber Varnish

From 30,00

An oil varnish designed for classical bowed string instruments, especially violin, viola, and cello.

This varnish produces a beautiful, transparent, warm, and durable film. When combined with pigments, dyes, and glazes, it offers optimal results. It enhances colours, providing depth, luminosity, and incomparable solidity.

Before use, it is recommended to test on pieces or parts of wood like those of the instrument to be treated to predict the colour tone that can be achieved in each case.

Application Guidelines

These are short, general indications. For more detailed instructions, please download the Technical Data Sheet available for this product.

&&
1

This varnish can be applied by hand (with gloves) or by brush. The best results are obtained with a multilayer system, using very thin layers, thus ensuring good drying of each layer.

&&
2

It can be combined with pigments and other varnishes and diluted to facilitate application. Check the Technical Data File for instructions on proportion, and do not dilute more than the quantity you will use immediately.

Sanding between layers is recommended during the varnishing process; the intensity depends on the quality of the dry film obtained.

&&
3

Once applied, it should be exposed to natural UV light for about 8-10 hours. Allow 12-24 hours before applying the next layer. We recommend drying in a UV chamber with AB lamps, as this allows us to control the intensity of the light and the drying times.
