OW Water-based Varnish remover is a varnish remover product specially formulated for stripping and removing old or unwanted coatings of oils, varnishes, paints, waxes, and resins.

The water-based OW varnish stripper is ideal for indoor spaces for restoration and repair projects of musical instruments, furniture, and decorative objects. It effectively breaks down layers of varnish and paint so they can be easily removed with a scraper or scrubber without damaging the surface of wood or other materials.

It is a water-based product, odourless and non-flammable.

Being a water-based product, it avoids strong odours in the workplace and health risks associated with commonly used strong solvents such as strippers, which can irritate the skin and respiratory system.

Composition

It is a mixture of solvents and water. Free of aggressive solvents. Safe, non-flammable, non-irritating. No health or environmental risks, compliant with EU Regulation No. 1272/2008 (CLP). Components are readily biodegradable.

Fast-acting, practical, easy to apply, and wash off. Low-odor viscous liquid. Colour: green. Water-soluble. Non-flammable.

Shake the contents of the container well to homogenize the product thoroughly.

How to use

Apply the product with a brush or paintbrush onto the surface to be stripped.

Allow the product to act for at least 5-15 minutes, leaving it longer if necessary but without letting it dry. Do not leave it longer than necessary to avoid softening the wood. The required time will depend on the type of varnish to be removed and the film thickness or number of layers.

Once the film is softened, scrape it off with a scraper or scrub it off gradually. If using a scraper, be cautious not to damage the wood, which may be slightly softened.

If not all the varnish is removed the first time, the same process can be repeated until complete removal.

Once the varnish layer is completely removed, clean the surface thoroughly with a clean, damp cloth and let it dry. There should be no residue of the product left on the surface.

Storage

The product can be stored for more than one year in its original tightly closed container, protected from the weather (indoors and at temperatures between 5 and 35ºC).

Keep the container tightly closed, in a cool place, and away from direct light. Avoid heat sources, radiation, static electricity, and contact with food. Under these conditions, the product is stable for more than one year.

Safety

According to Regulation No. 1272/2008 (CLP), this product is not considered a hazardous substance or mixture.

Avoid contact with eyes and skin. In case of contact, rinse immediately with water. Do not ingest. Keep out of reach of children.

It is not considered environmentally hazardous based on available data. Its components are easily biodegradable.

Wear protective gloves for minor risks and panoramic goggles for splashes and/or projections.
